One thing we hear more and more often from members of our community is that they have experienced moments when they just feel tired of personal growth. Constantly trying to improve themselves becomes a burden, and despite the wealth of information available, they find it is often specifically tailored to a certain type of person or to specific challenges not related to them.
We can, of course, resonate that the path of growth can be tiring, and can sometimes even begin to feel “artificial” rather than natural.
The beauty of life is that we do not really need to seek out or manufacture circumstances or experiences that can provide us an opportunity for growth, our daily life offers us these opportunities for expansion if we can just become conscious of them and approach them with a level of self-compassion.
This is also where we can see the beauty of the Enneagram in practice, as there are many ways for us to apply and use the knowledge. For example, in the moments when personal development becomes tiring or impersonal, we can keep it simple and just reflect on the following key message related to our type, allowing it to naturally align us with our self-loving ideals and compassionate personal development.
FOR TYPE 1
Patience
FOR TYPE 2
Self-respect
FOR TYPE 3
Authenticity
FOR TYPE 4
Inner Calm
FOR TYPE 5
Trust
FOR TYPE 6
Confidence
FOR TYPE 7
Groundedness
FOR TYPE 8
Magnanimity
FOR TYPE 9

Like an oasis in the desert, the simple act of reflecting on these words while facing the challenges or opportunities for growth that arise in your day-to-day life, provides a healing reminder. Perhaps it offers you a broader perspective on what you are living, or maybe it will prompt you to act in a different way than you normally would, setting you on a natural path of change and growth.
Does it make for an easier path? Not necessarily, but when we are fortunate enough to have the right tools, awareness and support, we welcome the challenge and can even begin to enjoy the process of the beautiful and ever expanding unfoldment of our life.
